1.Corona cases reached to 8.41 million in India and 48.3 million worldwide and the recovery rate in India is about 92% .

2.Firecrackers are banned in Delhi due to rise in coronavirus cases and pollution.

3.Supremecourt banned used of tunnel disinfectant and Uv rays use on humans as they are physically and psychologically harmful.

4.Sanofi Pasteur launched first full dose D-tap booster vaccine and the only vaccine containing inactivated Polio Myelitis virus in India. This vaccine contains full dose antigenic strength of Diphtheria, a-cellular pertusis, Tetnus and Polio.

5.The 2020 Nobel prize in medicine or physiology awarded jointly to three scientists named Micheal Houghton, Charles M. Rice and Harvey J. Alter for the discovery of Hepatitis-C virus.

6.Sunpharma has recalled 747 bottles of generic antidiabetic drugs from US market. The bottles contained generic version of metformin hydrochloride. These bottles were recalled as they were containing Nitosodimethylamine as an impurity more than accepted level. The same impurity is responsible for cancer.

7.Zydus Cadila launched Pressurized metered dose inhaler for COPD patients. This inhaler cost 495/- per pack. This inhaler contains Beta agonist "Formeterol" and Muscarinic antagonist "Glycopyrrolate". Due to synergistic action of these two drug it will be beneficial to COPD patients.

8.Medtronic Pvt. Ltd. launched Azure Pacemaker with bluesync technology. This is India's first pacemaker that can be operated directly by  smartphone or tablets.

9.Glenmark pharma got USFDA approval for generic version of sirolimus drug which is used as immunosuppressant during kidney transplant to prevent organ rejection.

10.Cipla launched Nintin ( nintedanib) drug for Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in India. This is generic version of drug which contains 100mg and 150mg of Nintedanib.

11.Remdesivir got USFDA approval for the treatment of COVID-19 treatment.

12.India ranked 94 out of 107 countries worldwide in Global Hunger Index 2020. According to GHI India is placed in serious hunger category but the score of India in 2020 is better compared with 2006, 2018  GHI.

13.Plasma therapy can soon be eliminated from COVID-19 treatment regimen as it doesn't produce any benefits to patients.

14.Delhi government made list of corona warriors, if vaccine comes in Delhi then these listed warriors will get it first. In this list Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists etc. healthcare workers, sanitation workers and other workers of private and Government sector are listed.

15.Genbody got ICMR (Indian Council for Medical Research ) approval for their antigen kit, which has 98% sensitivity, 98% Specificity and 9% Accuracy. This kit can give results within 15 minutes.

16.Cipla Pharmaceuticals launched ELIfast antibody kit for diagnosis of coronavirus and it got approval from ICMR and National Institute of Virology. This kit has sensitivity 92% and specificity 99.33%.

17.Brethonix,Singapore based company has made breathalyzer which can detect corona virus within 60seconds. This breathalyzer can get approval by 2021.

18.Abbott launched Implantable Cardioverter defibrillator and Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy Defibrillator for cardiac patient.

COVID-19 in Pregnancy:Premature birth A study  conducted by researchers at Yonsei University college Of Medicine , Korea, suggests that while having coronavirus disease 2019 during pregnancy has little effect on fetal or neonatal mortality, it can be associated with premature birth and sometimes severe outcomes for mother and baby, including death.
